England, oh England. I would have been quite pleased if Trinidad & Tobago had won. At least they were awake.
It's a rolling-up-your-sleeves day. Do a pedal steel part on Human Shield and then ladle on some high, ringing arpeggio parts (the Les PaulWhen I was becoming an adolescent I had a friend called Med who infected me with Prog Rock. He was very knowledgeable about The Enid and Coliseum, but was under the impression that Les Paul was something in French and pronounced it 'Lay Paul'. Such is the danger of only reading things. is clearly the correct choice. It acquits itself admirably. But coldly). Human Shield is a bit overloaded with tastiness now.
Now we're doing Black Hole and more or less replicating Matt's demo parts, so I do one and he does the other. Matt, playing a gold Les Paul. Heh heh heh.

Through some oversight this song doesn't have an extended outro. Matt quickly corrects this and I record some electric guitar wigging out at the end, but somehow it doesn't come off very well.
Dan has spent the last two days plugged into the laptop editing the drums on Outside because he feels each hit has to be absolutely in time, you know, a bit like a drum machine. He's spent many hours shaving tiny bits off waveforms and moving small patches of the-sound-in-between-notes around. I only mention it because it's a horrible job and I'm glad I'm not doing it.
